A man charged with fatally gunning down a popular Utah Valley State College coach will continue to stay in jail with bail set at $2.5 million cash only until his preliminary hearing is held.

Eugene Christopher Wright, 32, is charged with first-degree felony murder in connection with the fatal shooting last year of Kenneth Dolezsar, 50, who was meeting someone for breakfast in the parking lot of the Village Inn, 150 W. 10600 South.

Dolezsar was a well-liked assistant hockey coach and successful businessman.

Whoever shot Dolezsar ran off in Dolezsar's SUV after the shooting.

Third District Judge Terry Christiansen denied a defense attorney's motion to reduce Wright's bail, but the court will reconsider the bail issue after a March 26 preliminary hearing.
