A man police say was wanted for stabbing his friend over the weekend was arrested after turning himself in.

Greg Young, 50, waked into Salt Lake police headquarters Sunday evening and told the officer at the front desk that he had stabbed a person the night before and didn't know whether that person was dead or alive, said Salt Lake police detective Jared Wihongi.

About 8:30 p.m. Saturday, a man was discovered lying on the floor of a hotel room, 247 S. State, with a knife stuck in his chest. The victim was taken to a local hospital in extremely critical condition but at last word still alive, Wihongi said.

Young was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of attempted homicide.
