CLINTON — Police are staking out elementary schools in the area after a boy reported an attempted abduction.

The boy said a man approached him during recess on Wednesday at West Clinton Elementary School and tried to lure him to his car. The boy ran and told school officials, who contacted their school's DARE officer.

"We're trying to get more information. All we can do is treat it as a suspicious circumstance," Clinton Police Chief Bill Chilson said, noting that the description of the man and his car was vague.

The man was described as light skinned, with dark hair, jeans and driving a white sedan with tinted windows.

Meanwhile, Chilson had extra officers patrolling other schools.

"I've got the other schools under watch," he said. "We're trying to keep an eye out."
