University of Hawaii Manoa Chancellor Virginia Hinshaw wants Jim Donovan to become the school's next athletics director. Donovan spent 20 years at UH as a football player, graduate assistant and associate athletics director. He has been executive director of the Hawaii Bowl since 2002. Hinshaw has recommended Donovan to the UH Board of Regents. The panel meets next Thursday and Friday, and Donovan's name is on the agenda. He would succeed Herman Frazier, who was fired Jan. 8, the day after football coach June Jones announced his move to Southern Methodist University.
