In its editorial "Veto these bills, governor" (March 7), the Deseret Morning News calls illegal immigrants economic refugees. I'm sure harsh economic conditions have brought nearly all illegal immigrants to the United States. But if their services are needed here, then federal laws need to change to allow the number needed to work here legally. Until that happens, our laws need to be enforced and upheld. One billion people in the world live on less than $1 a day. Every one of them would be here if they could get here. The solution is to help their countries develop the rule of law, education and a free economy.
