Two women were injured Friday after they were struck by a car while in a crosswalk.
Just after 12:30 p.m. the women were crossing 200 South near 245 East in front of the Qwest building when they were hit by a westbound vehicle.
Both were taken to a local hospital by two ambulances. One was in critical condition and the other in fair condition when they were taken away, according to the Salt Lake Fire Department.
Witnesses said the driver, a man with gray hair and a handicap license plate, appeared to not see the two until the very last second when he tried to swerve out of the way. One witness said one of the women was not conscious when she was loaded into the ambulance.
There was no word Friday if the driver was cited.
