The Salt Lake Chamber plans to honor William H. (Bill) Nelson, president and chief executive officer of Intermountain Healthcare as "A Giant in Our City" on Tuesday, April 15, at the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City.

"Bill is truly one of Salt Lake's most influential CEOs," said Lane Beattie, the chamber's president and chief executive officer, in a news release Wednesday. "He has led an incredible investment in the health of our city and state, not only in innovative and nationally-recognized medical care, but also in charitable service. His impact as a leader reverberates throughout this community for good."

The chamber's Board of Governors established the Giant in Our City award in 1969. The award was created to honor lives of exceptional and distinguished public service and extraordinary professional achievement. Past winners include LDS Church President Gordon B. Hinckley and businessmen Jon M. Huntsman Sr., James LeVoy Sorenson and Larry H. Miller.
