AMERICAN FORK — A family fight ended with blood when a man sliced his arm.

American Fork officers responded after 1 p.m. Monday to a home where family members had called 911 to report that a 19-year-old man, while fighting with his 22-year-old brother, had grabbed a knife, said American Fork officer Ryan Metcalf.

In what seemed like an action of frustration, the 19-year-old then used the 6-inch kitchen knife to cut his forearm, Metcalf said.

"It was severe," he said. "It was a 4-inch laceration, and it was deep."

The man was transported to the emergency room for stitches, then cited for having a dangerous weapon in a fight, Metcalf said. The older brother was not cited.
