A gang-related shooting involving a 16-year-old boy Friday night led police to what appeared to be a large burglary ring.

About 7:40 p.m. Friday, police were called to a house near 1900 West and 900 North on a report of shots fired. Officers found a a shell casing but no victim. An hour later, however, a teenage boy showed up at a local hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Police say they have had several recent gang-related disputes at that house, and the shooting appeared to be a continuation of that.

Several hours after the shooting, detectives went back to the house, about 4:15 a.m. Saturday, with a search warrant. Inside, investigators found several thousand dollars' worth of stolen tools, electronics and CDs, according to a Salt Lake watch command report.

An 18-year-old man was arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of burglary.
