SOFTBALL: At Austin, Texas, despite a 13-strikeout performance from freshman Brittany Parker, the Utes fell to No. 22 Texas, 2-0, in the third-place game of the Texas Classic. Parker pitched a complete game for the Utes (10-5), giving up six hits and two runs. Senior center fielder Diana Phillips had both of Utah's hits; the second was her 12th career triple, third on the school's all-time list.
LACROSSE: Top-ranked BYU dropped a close game Saturday to No. 7 Michigan in Provo, the first time the Cougars (2-3) have lost at home in 13 contests. BYU next plays Michigan State on Saturday at 1 p.m.
SOFTBALL: The Bruins (14-4, 6-3 SWAC) split the weekend with North Idaho. In game one, Salt Lake had 13 hits in a 10-1, five-inning game. Lindsey Palmer picked up her 10th win of the season . The second game was a 12-6 loss.
BASEBALL: The Bruins (11-5, 4-0) swept the weekend against College of Southern Idaho. Game one was a 7-3 win, as pitchers Adam Gunn and Preston Grimes combined for nine strikeouts. Game two was a 10-5 win. Ryan Bernal went 3-for-3, missing a cycle by a homer. In the fourth inning, SLCC hit three triples in a row.
