Police are looking for the driver of a car in a hit-and-run accident that put a 16-year-old girl in the hospital Wednesday night.
At about 7:05 p.m., a passer-by saw the girl lying in the road near the intersection of 1700 North and Morton Drive (1855 West), said Salt Lake Police Lt. C.T. Smith.
The girl was taken to the Intermountain Medical Center in serious-to-critical condition but was stabilized as the night progressed, he said.
Without a witness to the crash, police had little to go on Wednesday night other than some broken glass, likely from a headlight, Smith said.
"We're still beating the bushes, knocking on doors trying to gather any information we can," he said.
Police hope the girl might be able to provide details about the driver and the vehicle. Anyone with information is urged to call the Salt Lake Police Department at 799-3000.
