DRAPER — City officials here have invited residents to share their views about the city's long-term parks and recreation plan.

Officials have solicited public opinion from residents of the booming city through a 21-page survey mailed to each household and an open house meeting, to be held Thursday.

The plan, which is being redrafted, will guide city officials in making decisions concerning open space, athletic programs, city parks and trails.

The parks master plan was last redrafted in 2000 with a focus on open space and trails. This time, city officials hope to focus on recreation and programs, said Draper project manager Brad Jensen.

"Plans are usually redone every five to 10 years," he said. "This is overdue."

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at City Hall. Before the plan is adopted, public hearings will be held before the Draper Planning Commission and Draper City Council and an additional open house will be held. Officials hope to complete the process in June.
