A Salt Lake couple face kidnapping charges after police say they tied up a man and threatened to kill him if he didn't return a sum of money.
On Feb. 18, a 43-year-old man forced his way into a home near 3400 S. 200 East, grabbed a man by the throat and asked "where his $5,000 was," according to charges filed Thursday in 3rd District Court.
The man was tied up with a bungee cord and a cell phone charger and driven up Parleys Canyon, where his kidnappers threatened to kill him, court documents state. A struggle ensued, and the man was able to escape.
The 43-year-old man and the 39-year-old woman face two counts of kidnapping, a second-degree felony, and one count of class B misdemeanor assault.
