FARMINGTON — Davis County is looking for an artist or art team to produce a major piece of artwork for the Davis Conference Center.

"We have a blank wall," says Barry Burton, the county's assistant director of community and economic development and project manager over the $11 million Conference Center expansion.

The wall is 70 feet wide and 18 feet high and is in a prominent location.

Burton is asking that artists who are interested in producing art for the center submit qualifications, which will be evaluated on creativity, knowledge of materials and a demonstrated ability to construct a major art piece.

Submissions can be in hard copy or electronic format and should be sent to Davis County CED, 28 E. State, Farmington, UT 84025. Or they can be e-mailed to Burton at by 2 p.m. Feb. 25.

Submissions should include qualifications for all artists to be involved in the project and examples of the artists' work, particularly any large pieces they have completed.

The qualifications will allow officials to determine which artists may submit proposals for the art piece, which has a budget of $50,000.

Qualified artists will be expected to attend an organized site visit prior to submitting a proposal.

The art is expected to be completed and installed by Sept. 1 and will be unveiled during the Davis County Gala in September.
