KEARNS — An investigation was under way Friday into the cause of death of a toddler who was taken by medical helicopter to the hospital while in full arrest.

About 3 p.m. Friday, an ambulance was dispatched to a home near 4500 West and 4800 South, where one or more adults appeared to be caring for the children of several family members, Salt Lake County Sheriff's Lt. Paul Jaroscak said. A helicopter was brought in to assist in transporting the 18-month-old girl, who was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Jaroscak said there was nothing immediately evident that prompted suspicion of foul play. "It's something we'll look at," he said. Although several children were in the home at the time, it did not appear to be an organized day-care facility, Jaroscak noted. The girl was not a resident of that home.
