Conservation scientist Gary Nabhan writes about the preservation of natural landscape and the preservation of agricultural lands. He'll be speaking Thursday as part of the Utah Museum of Natural History's "The Nature of Things" lecture series, talking on the subject of "The Loss of Our Heritage for Economic Gain, Can the Trend Be Reversed?"

He asks the question, "Is it time to limit the resources earmarked for each metro area, to stop the fragmentation of farm and ranch lands and to pay farmers for the ecological services they provide for the rest of us?"

Nabhan speaks at 7 p.m. at the Salt Lake City Main Library, 210 E. 400 South. The lecture is free and open to the public.
