Sen. Chris Buttars was quick to apologize for his gaffe, but of greater concern is how quickly and naturally that ugly phrase slid out of his mouth. Initially, Jeanetta Williams, president of NAACP in Utah, stated she wasn't going to ask him to step down — but then she thought back upon another situation and changed her mind. It's time we in South Jordan and West Jordan changed our minds, too. We have outstanding individuals who can represent us with dignity and honor. We don't have to settle for bigoted representation.
