WEST JORDAN — A man was stabbed here early Thursday by a woman in self-defense, according to police. The man, in addition to recovering from his injuries, now also faces charges.

Two men and two women were in a house near 3500 West and 8300 South. About 2:30 a.m., a 27-year-old man, who police believe was intoxicated, got into a fight with one of the women, his girlfriend, said West Jordan police Sgt. Greg Butler. The other girl intervened and the man began taking his anger out on her, he said.

In the kitchen, the man began hitting, scratching and eventually choking the second woman from behind, Butler said. The woman was able to grab a kitchen knife and stabbed the man behind her, he said.

Both the woman and the man suffered minor injuries. As of 9 a.m. Friday there had been no arrests. Butler said, however, that the incident was being investigated as a case of self-defense and if there are charges, they will likely be against the man.
