Will someone please tell me what Sen. Brent Goodfellow is up to? The good senator is the sole sponsor of SB54, which would shorten the time Utah residents have to present signatures for putting a referendum issue on the ballot. Goodfellow's bill would cut 45 days off the time now allowed.

A referendum is one of the few ways residents have for getting rid of a law of which they disapprove. It takes a lot of organizing and pounding on doors to get the required number of signatures. The residents need more time, not less.
