A man suspected of robbing a Centerville gas station was arrested after leading police on a chase into Salt Lake County on Sunday.

Just before 4 p.m., the 35-year-old Magna man allegedly pushed a clerk and tried to grab money from an open cash register at a Top Stop station near Interstate 15, said Centerville Police Sgt. Von Steenblik.

The man headed southbound on the freeway but was followed by police, Steenblik said. Police chased the car onto I-215 and then south on Redwood Road.

"He was blowing through red lights," Steenblik said. "But for whatever reason, we're not sure yet, he turned a corner and stopped and gave up."

Police said the car the man was driving had been reported stolen out of Taylorsville.
