CLEARFIELD — Apparent jealousy over a woman left to one man being stabbed in the face here Thursday night and two others arrested.

Two men entered Crown Billiards, 1295 S. State, about 8 p.m. Thursday and one began flirting with a female, according to a statement from Clearfield police.

About 45 minutes later, as the men were preparing to leave, they saw a 19-year-old man speaking to the same woman who one of them had flirted with earlier. That's when one of the men stabbed the teen in the face with a knife.

The victim was taken to Davis North Hospital in Layton where doctors said he was "very lucky to be alive," according to police. The man was released from the hospital this morning but will have to return later for reconstructive surgery to his face.

The two men ran out of the business after the incident but were caught a short time later by police.

Jeremiah Cox was arrested for investigation of attempted homicide, aggravated assault and possession of a weapon by a restricted person. Sean McKinney was arrested for investigation of felony obstruction of justice.

Both men have extensive criminal backgrounds including assault and drug charges, according to police.
