PROVO — A malfunctioning boiler shut down the Provo City Library early Tuesday morning, and it will remain closed at least two days.

According to Provo spokesman Helen Anderson, the piping inside the boiler sprang a leak. Work crews have to shut down the boiler — the building's main source of heat — to repair it.

Last year, the library circulated an estimated 4,500 items per day, Anderson said. The library is expected to open within the next few days.
