PROVO — Six cents may not go far these days — but apparently it was enought to satisfy a man who police say robbed two young women at knifepoint.

Police arrested the man, 35, who is accused of stopping the women as they were leaving Blockbuster, 100 E. 500 West, on Wednesday.

The women told police the man approached them, demanded $5, gestured a throat-slashing sign and pulled out a knife.

Provo Police Sgt. Mark Crosby said the man continued to threaten the women until they gave him all the money they had — 6 cents.

After grabbing the coins, the man jumped into his car and fled north on 500 West. But the women he robbed decided to follow him — and called police while in pursuit.

Police were able to locate and arrest the man after the women positively identified him. They booked him into the Utah County Jail for investigation of several crimes. Jail officials also placed an Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold on him.
