OGDEN — Ready for an indoor lazy river?

A developer wants to build a $115 million indoor water park in downtown Ogden.

Horizon Construction Group of Verona, Wis., said the park would be built on 1.6 acres and include slides, a lazy river, a raft ride and a spa area. It would be built in two phases and resemble a tropical getaway.

The park is designed to complement a 14-story Midtown Village luxury hotel proposed across the street. A skywalk could connect the two.

The plan was presented at a meeting of developers and City Council members Tuesday. Ogden's redevelopment board may vote on it Feb. 5.

Horizon Construction is the nation's leading builder of indoor water resorts, with 13 projects completed or under development, said Scott Kwiecinski, development manager.

At Midtown Village, 25 percent of rooms would likely be condominiums and the rest would be hotel rooms, said Larry Myler, president of Midtown Development.

The hotel would have restaurants, retail space and room for parking.

Midtown Development could be in line for a $1.2 million, interest-free loan from the Ogden redevelopment agency.
