I read, with some dismay, that Jared Massey is going ahead with a lawsuit in the now infamous Tasering case. His decision, of course, found its impetus in the hands of a "well-meaning" attorney, eager for his 40 percent should a settlement occur. What Mr. Massey doesn't understand is how lucky he was the officer didn't just shoot him. Ten or so years ago, that could have very well occurred. Mr. Massey doesn't seem to understand that he himself is guilty of failure to obey a peace officer's orders. When he turned around to walk away, presumably to get back into his vehicle and drive away, the arresting officer had no choice but to use force. Jared Massey should be mortified and incredibly embarrassed for himself and his family.
