Park City planning director Patrick Putt formally announced his resignation Thursday.
Putt plans to continue teaching at University of Utah and hopes to pursue further teaching opportunities, said Park City community and public affairs manager Phyllis McDonough Robinson.
"When I was in grad school he would have been the perfect professor," Robinson said. "He will be a phenomenal teacher."
Putt has worked with Park City since 1995. He has helped to maintain historic buildings within the city and worked to annex land near the city for a health and recreation complex.
Putt will continue work with the city until late February. Meanwhile, the city will begin the search for his replacement, Robinson said.
