Utah's big recruiting weekend paid off — big time.

Highly touted offensive lineman Benji Kemoeatu, a 6-foot-4, 325-pounder from Kahuku High School in Hawaii, has accepted a scholarship offer and plans to sign with the Utes on National Letter of Intent Day on Feb. 6.

The younger brother of former Utah linemen Ma'ake and Chris Kemoeatu, who are now in the NFL, will be joined by two of his high school teammates. Offensive lineman Anthony Si'ilata (6-2, 305) and linebacker Alema Tachibana (6-3, 200) also accepted offers to play for the Utes.

All three made their official visits to Salt Lake City over the weekend and made their intentions known before flying back to Hawaii on Sunday.

Utah also secured a commitment from California's leading junior college receiver — David Reed of Pasadena City College. He caught 111 passes for 1,661 yards and 13 touchdowns in 10 games last season.

Pasadena's career receptions leader, who played his high school football at New London in Connecticut, made 40 catches for 711 yards and 11 scores as a freshman.

Reed and the trio from Kahuku join 13 other players who plan to be part of Utah's 2008 recruiting class. Previous commitments, nonbinding at this point, include: offensive lineman Sam Brenner (Oceanside HS, Calif.), defensive back Lamar Chapman (El Camino CC, Calif.), quarterback Devonte Christopher (Canyon Springs HS, Nev.), tight end Siaki Cravens (Temecula Valley HS, Calif.), offensive lineman Zach Davila (Cienega HS, Ariz.), wide receiver Aiona Key (Mount San Antonio CC, Calif.), defensive lineman David Kruger (Timpanogos HS), running back Ryan Lacy (Oakmont HS, Calif.), wide receiver Cole Loftin (Aledo HS, Texas), running back Luke Matthews (Desert Vista HS, Ariz.), wide receiver Kendrick Moeai (Copper Hills HS), running back Sausan Shakerin (Alta HS), defensive tackle Sealver Siliga (Copper Hills HS) and offensive lineman Derek Tuimauga (Bingham HS).
