BOUNTIFUL — Police have assigned extra patrols in the neighborhoods around Bountiful High School after a 16-year-old girl reported that someone tried to abduct her.

The girl told police the incident happened about 8:15 a.m. Tuesday at a church parking lot near 750 East and 600 South.

"She's claiming a car pulled up in back of her, the driver got out and tried to pull her into the car," Bountiful Police Lt. Randy Pickett said. "She managed to break away and report it."

Police said the girl could only give them a vague description. He was described as a white man in his 30s, about 6 feet tall, medium build, with a dark-colored moustache and dark eyebrows. His hair was in a blue skullcap and he was wearing a blue ski parka and blue jeans, police said.

The girl also said the man was driving a blue 1990s-era four-door sedan. Anyone with information can call Bountiful police at 801-298-6000.
