The Salt Lake Convention & Visitors Bureau and Utah Sports Commission have won the bid to host the 2008 USVBA Junior Olympic Boys Volleyball Championships that will take place July 2-9.

The tournament, which will feature 450 junior volleyball teams from throughout the nation, will be played at the South Towne Exposition Center in Sandy.

The event will generate 13,000-plus room nights and an estimated economic impact of $20 million to $25 million, according to a bureau news release. The United States Volleyball Association is the national governing body for the sport of volleyball in the United States.

The Salt Lake area previously hosted the 2001, 2002 and 2005 USA Junior Olympic Girls Volleyball National Championships.
