SOUTH JORDAN — Merit Medical Systems Inc. said Tuesday that it expects to announce unaudited financial results for the fourth quarter and full year 2007 that exceed previously announced figures.

The company said fourth-quarter sales should top $54 million and gross margins should be at the highest quarterly level in more than two years. Sales for the year are expected to be up about 9 percent from the prior year.

The company said earnings per share, earlier predicted to be between 52 cents and 55 cents for the full year, should be on the high end of that range rather than the low end. It cited several factors, including an effort to reduce costs and complete several automation projects.

Merit Medical develops, manufactures and distributes disposable medical devices. It has about 1,520 employees worldwide, with facilities in Salt Lake City and South Jordan; Angleton, Texas; Richmond, Va.; the Netherlands and Ireland.
