An 18-year-old man was in serious condition Wednesday morning after being stabbed in the chest during a robbery in downtown Salt Lake City Tuesday night.

About 11 p.m. the man was walking by the homeless shelter, near 200 South and 400 West, when another man pushed him up against a wall and demanded money, said Salt Lake police detective Jeff Bedard.

The teen gave the robber a small amount of cash but was then stabbed in the upper left chest, Bedard said.

Investigators Wednesday continued to look for the assailant.
