LOGAN, Utah (AP) — Gary Wilkinson scored 18 points and Jaycee Carroll added 15 to lead Utah State to a 74-62 win over New Mexico State on Saturday night.

Utah State coach Stew Morrill gained his 225th win with the victory, tying him for most in school history with E.L. Romney.

Stephen DuCharme also scored 13 for the Utah State Aggies (12-5, 2-0 Western Athletic Conference). Wilkinson pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.

The New Mexico State Aggies (9-10, 3-1 WAC) were led in scoring by Jonathan Gibson with 22 and Fred Peete with 16.

With 6:58 to play, reserve Desmond Stephens dropped in his third 3-point shot and gave Utah State a 60-48 edge, its then-largest lead of the game. Peete and Gibson then each hit two 3-point shots in just over two minutes for New Mexico State, bringing the score to 60-60.

In the final four minutes Utah State outscored New Mexico State 14-2.

In the first half, Utah State burst out to a 20-10 lead. New Mexico State then went on an 11-0 run to take their only lead of the game, 21-20 with 8:21 to play. Utah State followed with an 11-2 run of their own and eventually ended the half with a 35-25 edge.
