BYU head football coach Bronco Mendenhall Friday announced junior defensive lineman Kyle Luekenga has been indefinitely suspended from the team due to a violation of team rules.

Luekenga, a 6-foot-3, 278-pound junior from West Valley City, did not play during the 2007 season due to injury. As a sophomore in 2006, he saw action in all 13 games and was credited with three tackles.

TILLER TO RETIRE AFTER '08: Purdue coach Joe Tiller will retire after next season and be replaced by new associate head coach Danny Hope. Hope will be signed to a six-year contract, with the final five as head coach, the university said Friday. His appointment as head coach must be ratified by the board of trustees. "This is a great day for Purdue football," Tiller said. "We are excited about the 2008 season and beyond. Danny is the perfect choice to take over this program."

DUCK TO ENTER DRAFT: Oregon running back Jonathan Stewart will pass up his senior season and enter the NFL draft. The school confirmed Stewart's decision Friday.
