SANDY — Giant checks and handshakes were part of a ceremony on Thursday, announcing tens of thousands of dollars had been raised for law enforcement charities.

The money was handed out by Utah Fast Pass, a sort of road rally where people in exotic sports cars drive across some of Utah's most scenic locales.

The event drew drivers from all across the country. From July 30 to Aug. 2, they drove around the state, escorted by Utah Highway Patrol troopers.

Some $135,000 went into a fund to help the families of fallen UHP troopers, about $40,000 went to scholarships and $50,000 to communities where the sports cars stopped.
