• "MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING PRESHOW" requires singers, comedians or performers of skits for a variety show to take place before the Shakespeare play that runs Feb. 1-18 at the Empress Theatre in Magna.
The theme of the preshow will be "Love Through the Ages." Auditions are Saturday from 11 a.m.-noon in the rehearsal hall at the Empress, 9104 W. 2700 South. If you are trying out as singer, bring your own recorded accompaniment and come prepared to sing an upbeat love song. • "CAROLINE, OR CHANGE" requires 11 black actors (including two children) and six Caucasian actors (including one child and three seniors). All must be able to sing.
Wasatch Theatre Company will produce this Tony Kushner musical from May 1-18 at the Rose Wagner Center. The auditions are Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. in the Studio Theatre at the Rose Wagner Center, 138 W. 300 South.
Come prepared with a song to sing. You will also be asked to read from the script. Needed are: black males ages 8 to 14 and over 30; black females ages 18 to 50. Caucasian males ages 8 to 14 and over 30, with an emphasis on more senior actors; Caucasian females over 30, also with an emphasis on more senior actors.Auditions are by appointment; call 446-5657.
• PIONEER THEATRE COMPANY'S season finale will be the musical "The Producers." Auditions will be Thursday and Friday, from noon- 5 p.m., in Room 245 at the theater, 300 S. 1400 East. All auditioners must sign up on the call-board in Room 325.
Equity actors may sign up for any time slot, and the first hour of each day will be reserved for Equity auditions. Call-backs are scheduled for Saturday. "The Producers" includes roles for six principal characters and 20 chorus members, men and women over the age of 18.The first audition will be singing only; an accompanist will be provided. Auditioners should prepare a song from a traditional Broadway musical score. A photo and resume are recommended. Scripts may be checked out overnight from the theater offices.
