PILAR POBIL, author of "My Kitchen Table: Sketches From My Life," will read from her work, Sunday, 3 p.m., Little Theater, Olpin Union Building, University of Utah, part of the Sunday Afternoon Authors Series.

HEATHER McHUGH, poet and author of numerous collections of poetry and Milliman Distinguished Writer-in-Residence at the University of Washington, Seattle, will read from her work, Thursday, 7 p.m., Guest Writers Series, Finch Lane Gallery/Art Barn, 1325 E. 100 South. McHugh will also engage in an informal conversation/brown bag luncheon, Friday, noon-1:30 p.m., also at the Art Barn.

ROB CARNEY, Utah Valley State College professor and poet, will lecture on "The Art and Craft of Poetry," Friday, noon, Hetzel-Hoellein Special Collections Room, Stewart Library, Weber State University, Ogden; then Carney will recite "The Mother of the Mountains" and other poems, Friday, 6:30 p.m., Universe City Department of Visual Arts, 2556 Washington Blvd., Ogden.
