I am seriously concerned about the incident that occurred in the Strait of Hormuz on Jan. 6 between an American battleship group and Iranian naval ships. In the light of the recent National Intelligence Estimate report — stating that Iran has halted its military nuclear weapons program in 2003 — I question the presence of the U.S. naval fleet in that area. Also, Iran has no incentive to attack oil transports because Iran's oil exports must also pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

I hope our leaders are wise enough to pursue an active dialogue instead of antagonizing each other.
