A man charged with scalding his baby son's body failed to show up for a pretrial conference, and his lawyer has not heard from him for five weeks, so 3rd District Judge Michele Christiansen issued a $100,000 warrant for the man's arrest.

The judge also canceled a trial scheduled to begin this month.

Eric Ison Jones, 35, faces a charge of second-degree felony child abuse in connection with injuries sustained by his 1-year-old son on Nov. 1, 2006. Jones allegedly scalded the baby when alone with him while the child's mother briefly left her Taylorsville residence to run errands.

After the mother returned and began changing the baby's diaper she noticed injuries on the boy. The baby had third-degree burns on the lower part of his body.
