PROVO — A former Eagle Mountain City Council member will go forward with a preliminary hearing in March on a financial-related felony charge.

Linn Strouse, 59, is charged in 4th District court with accepting a gift of $10,000 from a city developer and not reporting it to authorities.

The money was allegedly a gift from developer John Walden to help with Strouse's ailing husband, who has since passed away from cancer.

Strouse and her attorney Michael Holje appeared before Judge Samuel McVey Monday afternoon who set a hearing date for March 6 at 9:30.

Prosecutor Chad Grunander said the state is prepared to take the case to trial, but plea "negotiations are ongoing" and he hopes the case will be resolved soon.
