ST. GEORGE — Police arrested a man who stabbed a woman after she refused to let him drive home intoxicated.

Officers said it happened Saturday night when the 48-year-old man and the woman were leaving a dinner date at the Three Amigos restaurant.

"He was intoxicated and wanted to take the girl's car," St. George Police Sgt. Craig Harding said Monday. "She refused to let him take the keys. He brought out a knife and began slashing her and stabbed her."

The woman gave up the keys and the man fled the scene. The woman later called police and was taken to the hospital, where she was treated for her wounds and later released.

The man was tracked down and later booked into the Purgatory Jail for investigation of aggravated robbery, possession of amphetamines, alcohol and drug violations and a felony warrant from California.
