UTAH STATE PRISON — A man convicted of setting a fire at an apartment complex that killed a woman will have his first parole hearing in 2030.

The Utah Board of Pardons and Parole announced that Jacob Eion Leoncini, 23, would have his original hearing in November 2030, after he undergoes a series of psychological exams.

Leoncini was convicted of setting fire to the Canyon Cove Apartments in 2005. The fire killed Dana Byrd, 43, and a dozen pets. Leoncini told police he deliberately set a couch on fire with a cigarette, causing about $1 million damage and leaving about 20 families homeless.
