DRAPER — The Utah National Guard's I Corps Artillery (Forward) will hold a Freedom-Salute Ceremony for its Operation Enduring Freedom veterans Saturday at 1 p.m. at Lehi High School.

At the ceremony, approximately 100 Utah soldiers will receive the "Freedom Salute Award" to publicly acknowledge their service in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from June 2006 to August 2007.

The award consists of a commemorative flag and case, a Defender of Freedom certificate, lapel pins and a commemorative coin. Employers of soldiers will also be recognized at the ceremony and receive an Employer Freedom Medal and lapel pin.

Under the leadership of Orem resident Col. Jerry Acton and Cmd. Sgt. Maj. Steven Stone of Spanish Fork, I Corps Artillery Soldiers provided training and mentoring to Afghan National Army troops to prepare them to assume the mission of securing their own country.
