The Weber State women's basketball team lost for the third straight time Sunday, falling 73-45 at Texas-San Antonio in the final game of the UTSA Wells Fargo New Year's Classic in San Antonio, Texas.

Sophomore Ali Thorderson knocked down a 3-pointer with 6:44 to play in the first half to give the Wildcats a three-point lead at 21-18. But the 'Cats did not score again the rest of the half, as the Roadrunners closed the half on a 16-0 run to take a 34-21 lead at halftime.

UTSA opened the second half on a 6-0 run and the 'Cats did not score until nearly five minutes into the half. Between the two halves the Wildcats went 11:14 without scoring.

The Wildcats shot a season-low of 26 percent from the field, shooting 13-50. The Roadrunners doubled that performance by shooting 52 percent, including 6-of-10 from 3-point land.

Weber State committed 22 turnovers, the third most this season. UTSA turned that into 32 points. They also won the battle in the paint by outscoring the Wildcats 28-8. Weber State also recorded a season-low five assists.

Senior Sara Tuomi led the Wildcats with 16 points and a season-high nine rebounds.

Weber State concludes its non-conference season with a 6-6 overall record. The 'Cats will open Big Sky Conference play against Northern Colorado on Saturday.
