Utah National Guard Sgt. Thomas Payeur and Pfc. Trevor Barney each received the Joint Service Achievement Medal last month for their shared role in discovering escape tunnels dug by prisoners at Camp Bucca in Iraq.
Multinational Forces commanding Gen. David Petraeus presented the award to the two soldiers, members of the Utah Guard's 1st Battalion, 145th Field Artillery. Members of the 1-145th were deployed last June to Iraq where they are helping with operations at the 6,000-person capacity prison.
