A 26-year-old man received a six-inch gash in his right shoulder Sunday afternoon during what police believe may have been a drug deal gone bad.
The stabbing occurred near 200 South and 200 East, said Salt Lake City Police Lt. Dave Hoffman. After being stabbed, the victim ran to a nearby bar for help.
Police are unsure why the stabbing occurred but believe it may have been part of a fight over drugs, Hoffman said. Police have not located the weapon used in the assault.
A 44-year-old man has been arrested and is being held for investigation of aggravated assault.
