TOOELE — A Provo man was killed when the pickup he was driving crashed on I-80 about 43 miles east of Wendover.

The Utah Highway Patrol said it appears Thomas B. Dean, 63, fell asleep early Friday, causing his 2002 Dodge pickup to go off the left side of the road.

"He overcorrected to the right, crossed both eastbound lanes and went off the right shoulder," UHP trooper Cameron Roden said Friday. "He tried to overcorrect to the left, the vehicle rolled off the shoulder."

Two men were inside. The man's son, Robert J. Dean, 33, of Lehi, was flown by medical helicopter to University Hospital in serious condition.
