Last summer, when we started seeing yellow notices posted on bus route signs notifying the community of route cancellations, we were very concerned. Nearly every route our disabled daughter had been taught to use was to be no more. All this in the name of a "fast bus."

A fast bus works well for those with two working legs and the ability to walk several blocks to get to a bus. A fast bus works well for those with a sound, capable mind. It doesn't work well for those with disabilities.

Since the Utah Transit Authority eliminated almost all the routes that were accessible to those with special needs, it has greatly restricted an entire segment of the population.
