2. Lone Peak (6-1) Class: 5A

Was: 2. Last week: 1-0. Outlook: Faces some top-notch teams in New Mexico before coming home and playing Alta and Brighton in the first week of January. Next up: vs. Centennial, Ga., Friday at New Mexico Tournament.

3. Pleasant Grove (7-0) Class: 5A

Was: 3. Last week: 1-0. Outlook: Maintaining its undefeated record won't be easy in Palm Springs, but P.G. is definitely good enough to get the job done. Next up: vs. Foothill, Calif., Wednesday at Palm Springs Tournament.

4. Brighton (6-1) Class: 5A

Was: 5. Last week: 1-0. Outlook: After Christmas break, the Bengals will find out what they're made of when they host Lone Peak. Next up: vs. Lone Peak, Jan. 4.

5. Cottonwood (4-1) Class: 4A

Was: 7. Last week: 0-0. Outlook: Only loss was an overtime setback to Spanish Fork on Nov. 27. Next up: vs. Bountiful, Friday.

6. Sky View (6-2) Class: 4A

Was: 10. Last week: 1-0. Outlook: Bounced back nicely from tough trip to Reno, Nev. with a road victory over Copper Hills. Next up: at Woods Cross, Jan. 8.

7. Alta (5-4) Class: 5A

Was: 11. Last week: 1-0. Outlook: Hawks have already lost to No. 1 Davis and No. 3 Pleasant Grove this year, and on Jan. 2 they get a shot at No. 2 Lone Peak. Next up: at Lone Peak, Jan. 2.

8. Pine View (8-2) Class: 4A

Was: 13. Last week: 3-0. Outlook: Since early-season loss to Spanish Fork, it owns a 7-1 record. Next up: vs. Cedar, Jan. 9.

9. Bingham (5-4) Class: 5A

Was: 12. Last week: 1-0. Outlook: With losses to Alta, Davis, Bountiful and Lone Peak, the Miners are still in search of that marquee win to prove their a 5A contender. Next up: at Hillcrest, Jan. 4.

10. West Jordan (5-3) Class: 5A

Was: 7. Last week: 2-0. Outlook: Halted three-game skid with two solid road victories last week against Skyline and Weber. Next up: vs. Murray, Friday.

11. Provo (4-2) Class: 4A

Was: 19. Last week: 1-0. Outlook: Since disappointing loss to Lehi the Bulldogs have picked up three solid wins against 5A teams. Next up: vs. Red Mountain, Ariz., Thursday at Arizona Tournament.

12. Bountiful (5-3) Class: 4A

Was: 4. Last week: 0-2. Outlook: The former No. 4 team in the state did not have a good week last week falling to Judge and Viewmont. Next up: at Jordan, Wednesday.

13. Jordan (4-2) Class: 5A

Was: 8. Last week: 0-1. Outlook: Will try and bounce back from big loss to Bingham by winning the Logan Tournament this weekend. Next up: vs. Juan Diego, Thursday at Logan Tournament

14. Spanish Fork (5-3) Class: 5A

Was: 6. Last week: 0-2. Outlook: The Dons are limping into the Christmas break following losses to Brighton and Provo last week. Next up: at Canyon View, Thursday at Logan Tournament

15. Viewmont (4-3) Class: 5A

Was: —. Last week: 2-1. Outlook: The Vikings are a long way from being a 5A contender as evidenced by their 33-point loss to Lone Peak, but wins over Orem and Bountiful were real eye-openers heading into region play. Next up: at Clearfield, Jan. 4.

16. Skyline (6-2) Class: 4A

Was: 17. Last week: 1-1. Outlook: As it becomes more accustomed to the Princeton-style offense, Skyline is only going to get better and better. Next up: at Granger, Saturday.

17. Delta (10-1) Class: 3A

Was: 20. Last week: 3-0. Outlook: Only loss was to Bingham, and that game realistically could've gone either way down the stretch. Next up: at Juab, Jan. 2.

18. Woods Cross (7-1) Class: 4A

Was: —. Last week: 2-0. Outlook: Since loss to Viewmont on Nov. 30, Woods Cross has won six straight in relative easy fashion. Next up: vs. Olympus, Friday.

19. Snow Canyon (6-3) Class: 4A

Was: 9. Last week: 1-3. Outlook: It's a good thing Snow Canyon plays in Utah because it's 5-0 against Utah teams and 1-3 against out-of-state teams. Next up: vs. Centennial, Nev., Jan. 4.

20. Weber (5-2) Class: 5A

Was: —. Last week: 0-1. Outlook: The Warriors are still a mysterious team heading into region play, but they've proven in the preseason that they can't be taken lightly. Next up: vs. Syracuse, Jan. 4
