Investigators were looking Thursday at whether two armed robberies overnight are related.
About 11:20 p.m. Wednesday, two men walked into a 7-Eleven, 1353 W. Indiana Ave. One approached the clerk, pulled out a weapon and demanded cash while the other grabbed some beer, said Salt Lake City police detective Jared Wihongi.
After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash and beer, the two went to a waiting car, a silver four-door vehicle, and took off, Wihongi said. A third man was in the car. All three were wearing dark hoodies and blue bandanas.
A little more than an hour after that robbery, three men entered a 7-Eleven at 4807 W. 3500 South. Two men went to the cooler to grab beer while a third pulled a weapon on the clerk and demanded money from the register, said West Valley police Capt. Tom McLachlan. The trio left in possible a Dodge Intrepid with an undisclosed amount of cash and beer, he said. The suspects were wearing hooded sweatshirts and bandanas over their faces.
