I disagree with Charles Krauthammer's view (Dec. 23) that President Bush's legacy will be the successful "defanging" of Saddam Hussein's Iraq. Mr. Bush's real legacy will be his very capable demonstration that a U.S. president can successfully conduct an aggressive war of choice in his people's name, violate a raft of binding international agreements and domestic laws and authorize human rights abuses and related crimes on his watch without answering to anyone.

In short, he will leave us with the indelible image of a U.S. president who is above and beyond the law.
